This Privacy Policy describes how Jobe Propco ("we", "our", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit jobepropco.co.za or interact with us via WhatsApp, telephone, or in person.

We comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) of the Republic of South Africa. If you have any questions, contact our Information Officer (see below).

1. What information we collect

Information you give us directly

  • Contact enquiries: name, phone number, email address, message content (via contact form, WhatsApp, phone call, or visit).
  • Waiting list signup: name, phone number, preferred phase, preferred unit type.
  • Viewing bookings: name, phone, requested time slot (booked via our calendar widget).
  • Tenant portal accounts: name, email, phone, and authentication credentials. Tenants may also provide ID number, proof of income, and payment history once a lease begins.
  • Maintenance requests: unit number, description of the issue, optional photos.

Information collected automatically

  • IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL (in standard server logs).
  • Pseudonymous page-view analytics — only if you accept the cookie consent banner. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or session-replay tools.
  • Essential cookies for authentication on the tenant portal and to remember your consent choice. These are required for the site to function.

2. Why we collect it

  • To respond to your enquiry or booking request.
  • To match you to a suitable unit and add you to a waiting list when units are full.
  • To process payments (rent, deposits) and issue receipts.
  • To send maintenance reminders and lease-related notifications.
  • To improve the website by understanding which pages are useful.
  • To meet legal record-keeping obligations.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers necessary to operate the business:

  • Vercel Inc. — website hosting and infrastructure (USA / EU regions).
  • Supabase — database for waiting lists, tenant records, maintenance requests (EU region).
  • PayFast — South African payment gateway for deposits and rent. PayFast handles card data directly; we do not store full card numbers.
  • Wassenger — WhatsApp message delivery for reminders and replies.
  • Google — Google Calendar (for booking slots) and Google Maps (for embedded directions).
  • Email service provider (SMTP) — for transactional email notifications.

We do not transfer your information to any other third party for marketing or advertising purposes.

4. How long we keep it

  • Contact enquiries: up to 12 months after last interaction.
  • Waiting list: until you ask to be removed, or up to 24 months of inactivity.
  • Tenant records: for the duration of the tenancy and for at least 5 years thereafter, as required by South African law for financial records.
  • Server logs: 90 days.
  • Analytics data: aggregated, kept indefinitely. Individual events: 12 months.

5. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

  • Be told what personal information we hold about you.
  • Request a copy of that information.
  • Ask us to correct anything that's wrong.
  • Ask us to delete your information (subject to legal retention requirements).
  • Object to processing for direct marketing.
  • Withdraw consent for optional processing (e.g., analytics) at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

We use a small number of cookies. Essential cookies (session/auth, consent preference) are always set. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept the consent banner. We do not use advertising or social-media trackers.

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption, encrypted storage at rest (via Supabase), and access control on administrative tools. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children

Our services are for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be announced on this page.
